There was robust and enthusiastic bidding for four lots of mid century furniture sold in our April and May auctions.

In April we sold two lots, each with lounge chair and ottoman, designed by Charles and Ray Eames.

The black leather chair and ottoman made for Vitra sold for a hammer price of £4350. A bentwood and metal chair and ottoman set made for Herman Miller sold for £2550.

In May it was the turn of Finnish architect and designer Alvar Aalto (1898-1976). Lot 910 was comprised of two similar stools and sold for a hammer price of £260. Lot 911 was a bentwood, cantilevered armchair which sold for £1350

All prices listed here are hammer prices. Each purchase is subject to a 20% buyer`s premium and VAT on the premium.
